The staff at the reception desk will assist you in making routine and emergency appointments to see a doctor or nurse, answer numerous and varied questions and offer help and assistance at all times. It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patient records is maintained at the highest level by all staff.

Nurse Practitioners deal with minor illnesses and can also prescribe.

Practice Nurses

  The practice nurses are available by appointment.
  
  Their numerous tasks include:
• Cervical smears
• Clinics to monitor blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, heart disease
• Baby immunisations
• New patient checks
• Travel advice and immunisations
• Influenza/pneumonia vaccinations
• Contraceptive advice
• Minor illness clinic
• Phlebotomy Clinics.
  These clinics run 5 days a week in the mornings for blood tests. For such blood tests as 'Cholesterol Blood Test' and 'Fasting Glucose Blood Test' you will be requested to "Fast" from 12 midnight, please contact reception for more advice.

Other Clinics:

• Practice Nurses run other clinics which include Baby Immunisation; Travel vaccinations; Flu & Swine Flu Clinics; Well man/woman clinics; Weight Management clinics. Smoking Cessation clinics will restart from 04/01/10.

Health Care Assistants

Dietician

• Once a month on a Wednesday morning by appointment only after referral by a doctor.

District Nurses

• The district nurse team consists of both qualified and auxiliary nurses caring for housebound patients seven days a week and offers a full range of services.

• Health visitors are qualified nurses with special training and experience in child health, health promotion, and health education.

  A baby clinic is held at the surgery on a two weekly basis on a Friday morning.

Physiotherapist

  Clinics are held on a Tuesday and a Friday at the Lakeside surgery. This service is by appointment only and also by a referral by a doctor.

• We have a midwife antenatal clinic every Friday afternoon at the practice.
